Our Past Activities

Here at Stroke Survivors LN9, everyone does as little or as much as they wish to.  Not everyone has taken part in every activity, but every activity has been considered for everyone.

Celebrating our 1st Anniversary - Nov. 23

We formed on November 22, so celebrations were in order for Nov.23.  Any excuse for some cake.

Christmas 23 - Fund Raising

Horncastle Festivals organised a town Christmas Fair, which we all took part in, either in preparation or staffing.  We provided a Chocolate Tombola and "Guess the Cake Weight".  (cake is a recurring theme!).. It was certainly a fun day and helped raise our coffers.

Yes, there was a heating problem that day but all the eatables helped.

TMW - Tai Chi for Mental Wellbeing.

Our first actual group activity, during Feb/Mar 24. with 6 sessions over 6 weeks.  A first for some.  There were many different named moves but the meditation at the end was....sooooo relaxinggggg.  Thanks to Alison Carter, our instructors, calmness, passion and obvious expertise.

Digital Training

In this ever-changing world and the practical need for digital ability, for everyday living.  We took up the offer by a former guest speaker (LincsDigital) for five, 3-hour periods during May / June 24 for digital practice covering several everyday occurrences.  There were subjects such as Security, texting, emailing, online shopping, online medical and more.  Everyone had their own laptops with them.  It was a really practical and worthwhile activity.  Everyone also got a Certificate at the end.  Now in house ongoing practice is to be added in the future outside of normal "Gathering" days.

Coach Trip - Springfields

This was not our first activiy but was our first which took us out of the Community Centre comfort zone.  A 45 minute trip of of town to Springfields, a sought after shopping outlet and lunch location.

Lots of spending took place.  "I counted them all out, and I counted them all in"...phew.

Stroke Survivors LN9

About Us

This non-medical & informal group was formed in November 2022.  The overarching aim of the group is to give local area, Stroke Survivors, the chance to meet up with other local Stroke Survivors and Carers.  Thereby giving conversation and experience exchange opportunities.

The wider aim is to provide a self-help platform and common interest to aid social confidence and interest and all the benefits that come with it.
